If you’ve visited Yolked Apparel before, you might have noticed things have been a little quiet on the blog front. Life, work, and everything else had a habit of getting in the way.
That changes now.
As we head into the new year, I’m making a conscious decision to put more time and energy into this store – not just adding new designs, but also sharing more of what goes on behind the scenes, what inspires each collection, and where things are heading next.
This blog is part of that reset.
Why the renewed focus?
Yolked Apparel started as a creative outlet – a place to put ideas, humour, nostalgia, and the occasional slightly odd concept onto something wearable. Over time, the catalogue has grown, and so has the ambition behind it.
The goal for the coming months is simple:

more regular updates

and a clearer sense of direction for the brand
Writing more regularly is a big part of that. It’s a way to document the journey, introduce upcoming releases properly, and give a bit more context to the designs beyond a product page.
Looking ahead: design inspiration for the year
A lot of the new designs currently in progress are influenced by a few recurring themes that keep popping up in art, fashion, and culture.
Nostalgia and retro influence
There’s something comforting about familiar styles and references. Expect more designs that lean into vintage aesthetics, retro colour palettes, and subtle nods to past eras – not as replicas, but as modern interpretations.
Bold graphics and self-expression
The next wave of designs won’t be shy. Strong colours, confident artwork, and designs that are meant to be noticed are very much on the way. T-shirts are statements, whether they’re loud or understated, and I want future releases to reflect that.
Playful and slightly surreal ideas
Some concepts don’t need a deep explanation – they just need to exist. Expect a few designs that are there purely because they’re fun, odd, or make you look twice. Those are often the most enjoyable to create.
What won’t change
While new designs are coming, a few things remain constant:

All products are made to order, which helps reduce waste and overproduction

Quality and comfort matter just as much as the artwork

Designs are created to be worn, not just scrolled past
Each new release will be introduced with intention, rather than dumped into the store and forgotten about.
What’s coming very soon

and at least one new mini-collection is planned for the early part of the year
